Who this policy covers

This policy applies to the PillBell mobile app, developed by Hostspica. If you're reading this because you're deciding whether to trust PillBell with a parent's or family member's medicine schedule, that's exactly the right instinct — read on.

What PillBell stores, and where

Everything you enter into PillBell — medicine names, dosages, schedules, photos you attach, dose history, and app settings like your display name or relationship to the person taking the medicine — is stored in a local database on your device only. PillBell has no backend server. We do not receive, see, or have access to this data at any point, because there is nowhere for it to be sent to us.

Uninstalling the app, or clearing its storage in your device's app settings, permanently deletes this data. There is no copy anywhere else unless you've turned on Google Drive backup (below).

Camera and photos

PillBell asks for camera access for two features: scanning a medicine's QR code (to copy a schedule from another device), and taking a photo of a medicine to attach to its entry. Both are processed entirely on your device. No photo or scanned image is ever uploaded anywhere.

Optional: Google Drive backup

PillBell can optionally back up an encrypted copy of your data to your own Google Drive, if you choose to turn this on and sign in with your Google account. This feature is off by default.

• Encrypted before it leaves your device. The backup file is encrypted (AES-256-GCM) on your phone before upload. Without your device's key, the file is unreadable.
• Stored in your app's private space, not your visible Drive. The backup is saved to Drive's app data folder — a storage area tied specifically to PillBell, invisible in your normal Google Drive file list, and inaccessible to any other app.
• We never see it. The backup goes directly from your device to your Google Drive. Hostspica has no server in this flow and never receives a copy.
• Scope requested: PillBell only requests Google's drive.appdata permission — access to this one private app folder. It cannot see, list, or touch any other file in your Drive.

What PillBell does not do

• No advertising, and no ad-tracking SDKs of any kind.
• No analytics or usage-tracking services.
• No selling, sharing, or monetizing your data — health or otherwise — with any third party.
• No account required to use the app's core features. Signing in with Google is only ever needed for the optional Drive backup.

Notifications

Reminder notifications are scheduled and delivered entirely on-device using your phone's own alarm and notification system. No reminder data is sent anywhere to make this work.

Children's data

PillBell is not directed at children and is not knowingly used to collect data from children. It's built for adults managing their own or a family member's medicine schedule.
